Good Evening, I m a little bit afraid, I made an account on an Hongkonge Based Cryptocoin Exchange Plattform, its called: https://www.sz-djkc.com/ (WildLeopardEX). After I gaining some profits with day trading Cryptocoins, I wanna withdrawal them, and they told me, I have to pay a profit tax of the hole Estimated Total Value of Assets. So long so good, the taxrate will be 15%, but the problem is, as Switzerland Citiziens I didn’t got informed about that before and the big problem is, that I have to pay the tax until the 30.06.2021, if not my account will be frozen and confiscated… that sounds really like scam. And I have to pay this tax with a cryptocoin Tether to a specific wallet. Total Funds: 133550 USDT (Equal to 133550 USD) Taxamount: 20032 USDT (15%). USDT tax payment address designated by the Hong Kong Inland Revenue Department: ERC20: 0x709bb0607bbc718c9bf1f474f4e348e8425a92f8 I have to pay this amount until the 30 june 2021 or else I will loose the total funds. For me this look like SCAM. Please can contact me immediately Die Antwort: I refer to your email of 25 June 2021. The Hong Kong Inland Revenue Department (IRD) is responsible for the tax administration in Hong Kong. Only three types of direct taxes are levied in Hong Kong, i.e. profits tax (charged on profits derived from trade, profession or business), salaries tax (charged on employment income) and property tax (charged on rental income derived from landed property). We do not charge withholding tax on investment income and capital gain. You can follow this link (https://www.ird.gov.hk/eng/pdf/tax_guide.pdf) for further information on the tax system and collection of taxes in Hong Kong. Generally, the IRD will issue a notice of assessment and demand note to the taxpayer if tax payment is required. The amount of tax payable in Hong Kong dollars (instead of foreign currencies or cryptocurrencies) and the due date for payment are stipulated in each notice of assessment and served to the taxpayer’s last known postal address. We do not notify the taxpayer of his/her tax liability via a third party or by preventing withdrawal from his/her investment account. We have no idea or involvement in the said arrangement of paying tax to withdraw. I regret to learn that you may have encountered a fraud case. However, investigation of fraud and deception is not under the purview of the IRD. For any fraud/ crime occurred in Hong Kong and under the jurisdiction of Hong Kong Police Force, you can report the case directly to its e-Report Centre (https://www.erc.police.gov.hk). Taking this opportunity, I would like to remind you to be vigilant on receiving suspicious fraudulent notification. If you are notified by someone that your investment money is withheld because payment of tax on your investment income is required by the Hong Kong tax department, it is likely to be a scam. Please ask for documentary evidence to verify the claim and you should check the authenticity of the documents carefully.
