Opinion: Bitcoin needs to become a better medium of exchange before it reaches mass adoption. "The best way to achieve that is to build apps with seamless one-click interfaces, which make the consumer experience as straightforward as possible. "Prepare for backlash" says US Senator Jared Polis to BTC community

"We haven't seen the full backlash yet, in part, because Bitcoins aren't fully mainstream. But, as they become more and more mainstream, inevitably, they are in some ways usurping the prerogative of nation states, and I fully expect to see more pushback from countries including [the US]."

Middle East Investment Bank: Bitcoin Could Ignite Regional E-Commerce

http://www.coindesk.com/middle-east-investment-bank-bitcoin-ignite-regional-e-commerce/

Auszug:

Bitcoin could improve oil trade

One of the more interesting findings in the report may be its conclusion that bitcoin could be used to help generate savings for oil exporters. The industry currently accounts for 90% of GCC exports and 75% of government revenue, according to Markaz, but also must deal with the costs of receiving payments from all over the world.

Specifically, it suggests bitcoin could be used to reduce the clearing time for international payments, which it says currently take between one and three days to process.

The report envisions a wide range of potential uses for bitcoin technology to improve the region’s oil trade, stating:

“Revamping the payment system in line with bitcoin systems will yield in savings in terms of cost, time and paperwork involved. Alternatively the same payment method could be adopted for fund transfers among the GCC regions as well as the whole of [the] Middle East.”

Vor einigen Wochen hat fjvbit das noch als utopische Fantasie in die Diskussion gebracht, jetzt wird es bereits öffentlich diskutiert ...

Gov. Brown [California] signs bills legalizing Bitcoins use, other legislation

http://www.latimes.com/local/political/la-pc-brown-legis-20140628-story.html

Gov. Jerry Brown has signed bills that recognize the legal use of Bitcoins and other digital currencies in California, repeal a requirement for food handlers to use gloves, and keep minor truants out of lockup facilities, his aides announced Saturday.

In all, the governor signed 15 pieces of legislation into law, including one that reflects the changing way that technology has Californians doing business.

AB 129 will allow Bitcoins and other digital currency to be legally used in transactions in California by repealing a provision of state law that bars the use of "anything but the lawful money of the United States."

Assemblyman Roger Dickinson (D-Sacramento) said the new law he wrote only recognizes what is already happening.

“In an era of evolving payment methods, from Amazon Coins to Starbucks Stars, it is impractical to ignore the growing use of cash alternatives,” Dickinson said in a recent Statement.

California governor signs bill to bring bitcoin and other currency into fold

http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/06/29/us-usa-california-bitcoin-idUSKBN0F402T20140629

(Reuters) - California Governor Jerry Brown on Saturday signed into law a bill that clears away possible state-level obstacles to alternative currencies such as bitcoin.

The legislation repeals what backers said was an outdated California law prohibiting commerce using anything but U.S. currency.
